About D’Arcy of Daintree
Mike D’Arcy of Daintree is an escapee from the urbanisation of the Southern part of Australia. As a world traveller, only the magic of the Daintree has lured him and his wife Trish to this rainforest paradise.
He started his D’Arcy of Daintree 4WD tours in August 2010 after listening to visitors wanting more personal and in-depth experience of the rainforest in a flexible format.
With his outgoing personality, Mike’s previous career had him involved with sports development, training and community development through sport. While responsible for international sports development at the Australian Sports Commission, his love for sharing special places and history had him hosting and guiding many groups of visitors from the Asia Pacific throughout Australia.
During their first few years in the Daintree, Mike and his wife Trish immersed themselves in the ethos of the area and started learning about the people as well as the fauna and flora. Working with various local tourism businesses has provided him with valuable insights and understanding of the history and dynamics of this special region. In his spare time, he writes Bloomfield Track reports for Cooktown, Port Douglas and Mossman newspapers.
Mike has a special respect for Indigenous people and their culture and a long term interest in supporting Indigenous development in Australia.
He is committed to providing a quality and interactive experience, while keeping each tour unique and tailored to the interests of his customers.
We look forward to seeing you on the day of your tour!
